Pattern Select Switch Sport Mode Circuit [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      CAN Bus Check 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed B
    5. Turn the engine switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2018 - 07/2022] 

    Result:

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    5. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output A
      DTCs are output B
    6. Turn the engine switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2018 - 10/2019]  Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2019 - 07/2022] 

    Result:

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DRIVE MODE STATUS AND POWER MODE SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Drive Mode Status
      Power Mode SW
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Drive Mode Status Drive mode status Normal, Power, Sport, Sport, Sport+, Comfort or ECO -
      Power Mode SW Drive mode select switch condition ON or OFF
      • ON: Drive mode select switch being turned and held at Sport position
      • OFF: Drive mode select switch not turned

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The display changes according to the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) operation. A
      The display does not change according to the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) operation. B
    6. Turn the engine switch off.

    Result: 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022]

  4. INSPECT DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Inspect the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly).

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2018 - 07/2022]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Drive Mode Select Switch (Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      I1-7 (GND) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the A36 ECM connector.
    2. Disconnect the I1 drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Drive Mode Select Switch (Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A36-41 (SPCN) - I1-3 (SPSW) Engine switch off Below 1 Ω
      A36-41 (SPCN) or I1-3 (SPSW) - Body ground Engine switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A36-31 (PWMS) - I1-2 (NORM) Engine switch off Below 1 Ω
      A36-31 (PWMS) or I1-2 (NORM) - Body ground Engine switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the I1 drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the A36 ECM connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2018 - 07/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
