Removal [10/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2017 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [09/2020 - ]

  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  4. REMOVE WATER OUTLET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 6 water by-pass hose from the water outlet sub-assembly.

      *1 No. 6 Water By-pass Hose
      *2 No. 15 Water By-pass Hose
      *3 No. 2 Water By-pass Hose
    2. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 15 water by-pass hose from the water inlet sub-assembly with thermostat.
    3. Disengage the clamp to separate the No. 15 water by-pass hose from the water outlet sub-assembly.
    4. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the water outlet sub-assembly.
    5. Remove the 2 bolts and water outlet sub-assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.

    6. Remove the O-ring from the No. 1 water outlet pipe.

  5. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 1) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.
      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
  6. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) 
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.

    2. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    4. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.
      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
  7. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 2) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.
      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
  8. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) 
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.

    2. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.

    4. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.
      NOTE:
      • If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
      • Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
