Removal [10/2017 - ]: Procedure
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2017 - 09/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [09/2020 - ]
- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
- REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10
- REMOVE WATER OUTLET SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 6 water by-pass hose from the water outlet sub-assembly.
*1 No. 6 Water By-pass Hose *2 No. 15 Water By-pass Hose *3 No. 2 Water By-pass Hose - Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 15 water by-pass hose from the water inlet sub-assembly with thermostat.
- Disengage the clamp to separate the No. 15 water by-pass hose from the water outlet sub-assembly.
- Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the water outlet sub-assembly.
- Remove the 2 bolts and water outlet sub-assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.
- Remove the O-ring from the No. 1 water outlet pipe.
- Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 6 water by-pass hose from the water outlet sub-assembly.
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 1)
- Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.NOTE:
If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.NOTE:
- If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
- Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
- Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1)
- Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.
- Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.NOTE:
If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.NOTE:
- If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
- Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
- Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Intake Side of Bank 2)
- Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.NOTE:
If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.NOTE:
- If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
- Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
- Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2)
- Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.
- Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.NOTE:
If the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly has been struck or dropped, replace it.
- Remove the O-ring from the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly.NOTE:
- If the O-ring comes off in the timing chain cover assembly, make sure to remove it.
- Do not drop the O-ring into the timing chain cover assembly.
- Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.
