Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Navigation Receiver Assembly [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MICROPHONE (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter the "Microphone Check" screen. Refer to Check Microphone in Operation Check.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2015 - ]

    2. When a voice is input into the microphone, check that the microphone input level meter changes according to the input voice.
    3. Select the recording switch and perform voice recording.

      HINT: 

      • Select the recording switch with the blower motor of the air conditioning system stopped. If an outlet of the air conditioning system is facing the microphone, noise may be recorded.
      • Voice can be recorded for up to 5 seconds.
    4. Check that the recording indicator remains on while recording and that the recorded voice is played normally without noise or distortion.

      OK

      All check results are normal.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the K57 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the W9 map light assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K57-49 (SNS2) - W9-1 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-29 (MACC) - W9-4 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-27 (MIN+) - W9-3 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-48 (MIN-) - W9-2 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-49 (SNS2) or W9-1 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K57-29 (MACC) or W9-4 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K57-27 (MIN+) or W9-3 (MCO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K57-48 (MIN-) or W9-2 (MCO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the map light assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Remove the telephone microphone assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W9-4 (MACC) - TM-5 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      W9-3 (MCO+) - TM-3 (MIC+) Always Below 1 Ω
      W9-2 (MCO-) - TM-2 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      W9-1 (SNS2) or TM-1 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the K57 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the W9 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K57-29 (MACC) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      K57-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  6. INSPECT TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the telephone microphone assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

  7. INSPECT TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the K57 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the W9 map light assembly connector.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    4. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 2 (MCO-) and 3 (MCO+) of the W9 map light assembly connector.

    5. Check the waveform of the telephone microphone assembly using the oscilloscope.

      Result

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the K57 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the W9 map light assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K57-49 (SNS2) - W9-1 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-49 (SNS2) or W9-1 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)) 
    1. Disconnect the K57 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the K70 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K57-27 (MIN+) - K70-18 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-48 (MIN-) - K70-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      K57-27 (MIN+) or K70-18 (MCO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K57-48 (MIN-) or K70-19 (MCO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K57-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Disconnect the K70 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the W9 map light assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K70-33 (MCVD) - W9-4 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      K70-34 (MCI+) - W9-3 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      K70-35 (MCI-) - W9-2 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      K70-33 (MCVD) or W9-4 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Reconnect the K57 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the W9 map light assembly connector.
    3. Reconnect the K70 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    5. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 2 (MCO-) and 3 (MCO+) of the W9 map light assembly connector.
