DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [09/2014 - 11/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MODEL

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the T20 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O65 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Disconnect the O55 front No. 2 speaker assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the R14 and S14 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the O56 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    6. Disconnect the T25 and U35 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Disconnect the T24 rear No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    8. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the O65 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the O54 front No. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O65-5 (SPO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O65-6 (SPO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - 11/2017]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the T20 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O54 and O55 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the R14 and S14 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the O56 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    5. Disconnect the T25 and U35 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the T24 rear No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    7. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

  7. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 11/2017]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the T20 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O65 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Disconnect the O55 front No. 2 speaker assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the R14 and S14 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the O56 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    6. Disconnect the T26 and U36 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Disconnect the T23 and U34 rear header speaker assembly connectors.
    8. Disconnect the T24 rear No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    9. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

    1. Disconnect the T20 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O54 and O55 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the R14 and S14 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the O56 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    5. Disconnect the T26 and U36 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the T23 and U34 rear header speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Disconnect the T24 rear No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    8. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

  25. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the rear No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2014 - ]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - 11/2017]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left rear No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs
