On-Vehicle Inspection [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work. Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - 08/2019] Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - ] .

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    See step  3

  3. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    See step  5

  4. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    See step  6

  5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  6. INSPECT TELESCOPIC MOTOR 
    1. Inspect the tilt motor:
      1. Disconnect the tilt motor connector.
      2. Apply 12 V battery voltage to the tilt motor connector. Then check the steering wheel tilt operation.

        OK

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        12 V battery positive (+) lead → Terminal 1 (TIM+)
        12 V battery negative (-) lead → Terminal 2 (TIM-)
        The steering wheel tilts up.
        12 V battery negative (-) lead → Terminal 1 (TIM+)
        12 V battery positive (+) lead → Terminal 2 (TIM-)
        The steering wheel tilts down.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the steering column assembly.

    2. Inspect the telescopic motor:
      1. Disconnect the telescopic motor connector.
      2. Apply 12 V battery voltage to the telescopic motor connector. Then check the steering column telescopic operation.

        OK

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        12 V battery positive (+) lead → Terminal 2 (TEM+)
        12 V battery negative (-) lead → Terminal 1 (TEM-)
        The steering column contracts.
        12 V battery positive (+) lead → Terminal 1 (TEM-)
        12 V battery negative (-) lead → Terminal 2 (TEM+)
        The steering column extends.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the steering column assembly.

  7. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [09/2015 - ] )

  8. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    See step  9

  9. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER 

    See step  10

  10. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 

    Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2015 - 08/2020] Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2020 - ] )

  11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
