DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [04/2013 - 09/2020]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P23 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the K66 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    3. Disconnect the K56 front No. 2 speaker assembly LH connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    4. Disconnect the K55 and K56 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors (w/o Manual (SOS) Switch).
    5. Disconnect the N14 and N29 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the O4 and O9 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Disconnect the P27 rear No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    8. Disconnect the K57 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    9. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY RH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K66 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the K55 front No. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly RH and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K55-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K55-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Remove the front No. 3 speaker assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P23 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the K66 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    3. Disconnect the K56 front No. 2 speaker assembly LH connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    4. Disconnect the K55 and K56 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors (w/o Manual (SOS) Switch).
    5. Disconnect the N14 and N29 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the O4 and O9 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Disconnect the P26 and Q40 rear header speaker assembly connectors.
    8. Disconnect the P27 rear No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    9. Disconnect the K57 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    10. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P23-28 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the O4 and O9 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the O5 and O10 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O4-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O4-2- Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O9-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O9-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY RH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K66 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the K55 front No. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly RH and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K55-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K55-1 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  12. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - ]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2014 - 09/2018] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2018 - 09/2020]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

  13. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.

    1. Replace the front No. 3 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - ]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2014 - 09/2018] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2018 - 09/2020]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      Connect the connector to the front No. 3 speaker assembly that was disconnected.

  17. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the rear No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 09/2020]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2013 - 06/2014] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2014 - 09/2018] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2018 - 09/2020]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left rear No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.
