Removal [08/2019 - ]: Procedure
- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- PRECAUTION NOTE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter.
Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [08/2019 - ]
NOTE:Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.
HINT:
Performing the above operation causes the auto tilt away function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
- Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

- Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter.
- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL LH
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
- Remove the steering wheel assembly.
Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]
- Remove the steering wheel assembly.
- REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
- REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
- REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY NOTE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
- Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly installed, with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
- Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
- Remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ]
- Remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (TILT STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WITH MOTOR)
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FENDER APRON TO FRAME SEAL LH

- DISCONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY
