DTC B2611: Telescopic Position Sensor or Telescopic Motor Circuit Malfunction [08/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TELESCO OPERATION) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the steering column contracts and extends.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - BATTERY)

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - BODY GROUND)

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK TELESCOPIC MOTOR 
    1. Reconnect the G33 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the A telescopic motor connector.
    3. Apply 12 V battery voltage to the telescopic motor connector. Then check the steering column telescopic operation.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      12 V battery positive (+) lead → Terminal A-2 (TEM+)
      12 V battery negative (-) lead → Terminal A-6 (TEM-)
      The steering column contracts.
      12 V battery positive (+) lead → Terminal A-6 (TEM-)
      12 V battery negative (-) lead → Terminal A-2 (TEM+)
      The steering column extends.

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU

    REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (TILT STEERING WITH MOTOR GEAR ASSEMBLY) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the G33 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G33-11 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. CHECK MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU (VCE TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Reconnect the G33 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      A-3 (VCE) - A-5 (E2) Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V

  7. CHECK TELESCOPIC POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      A-4 (TES) - A-5 (E2) Telescopic steering contracting or extending Pulse generation
      High: 8 to 14 V
      Low: Below 1 V

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU

    REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (TILT STEERING WITH MOTOR GEAR ASSEMBLY)

  8. CHECK STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the A multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-3 (VCE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
