Rear Wiper does not Operate [08/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (GLASS HATCH COURTESY SWITCH) 
    1. Use the Data List to check if the glass hatch opener is functioning properly (Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
      MAIN BODY

      Glass Hatch Courtesy Switch Glass hatch courtesy switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Glass hatch open
      OFF: Glass hatch closed

      On Techstream screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

    NG 

    GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM 

    (Refer to Back Door Courtesy Switch Circuit [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (REAR WIPER POWER SUPPLY) 
    1. Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test (Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Rear Wiper Power Supply WASHER RR relay operation ON/OFF Make sure that the engine switch is on (ACC) and the rear wiper switch is on.

      OK

      Rear wiper motor operates.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    NG

  3. INSPECT WASHER RR RELAY 
    1. Remove the WASHER RR relay from the engine room relay block, junction block assembly.
    2. Inspect the WASHER RR relay (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [08/2015 - ] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WASHER RR RELAY 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WASHER RR RELAY - BATTERY) 
    1. Remove the WASHER RR relay from the engine room relay block, junction block assembly.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      WASHER RR relay terminal 2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      WASHER RR relay terminal 2 - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V
      WASHER RR relay terminal 5 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - WASHER RR RELAY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
    2. Remove the WASHER RR relay from the engine room relay block, junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G46-20 (PWMR) - WASHER RR relay terminal 1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A-11 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      G46-20 (PWMR) or WASHER RR relay terminal 1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY - WASHER RR RELAY) 
    1. Disconnect the Y1 rear wiper motor assembly connector.
    2. Remove the WASHER RR relay from the engine room relay block, junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Y1-5 (+B) - WASHER RR relay terminal 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      Y1-5 (+B) or WASHER RR relay terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. INSPECT REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear wiper motor assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the rear wiper motor assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - ] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  8. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).
    2. Inspect the windshield wiper switch assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    OK

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the G99 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the Y1 rear wiper motor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G99-7 (+1R) - Y1-2 (LS) Always Below 1 Ω
      G99-6 (C1R) - Y1-4 (C1) Always Below 1 Ω
      G99-2 (EW) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Y1-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      G99-7 (+1R) or Y1-2 (LS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G99-6 (C1R) or Y1-4 (C1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    NG
