Removal [09/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2014 - 10/2015] ).

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    1. Disable the auto away/return function by changing the customize parameter (Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [09/2014 - ] ).
      NOTE:

      Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto away/return function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing this operation.

      HINT: 

      Performing the above operation disables the auto away/return function when the engine switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
    3. Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2014 - 10/2015] ).

  3. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    NOTE:

    Removing the lower steering column cover in the incorrect order will cause the parts to break.

    1. Turn the steering wheel assembly to the left and remove the screw.

    2. Turn the steering wheel assembly to the right and remove the screw.

    3. Remove the screw as shown in the illustration.

    4. Push the right and left sides of the lower steering column cover to disengage the 2 claws.

    5. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 guides to separate the instrument panel cluster finish panel from the upper steering column cover.

    6. w/ Driver Monitor Camera:

      1. Disconnect the connector.
    7. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the upper steering column cover.

  4. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect each connector.

    2. Disengage the claw and remove the windshield wiper switch assembly as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the claw.
