DTC B2651: Reclining Sensor Malfunction (07/2015 -): Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR (07/2015 -) ).

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC output B

    Result:  A

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING (07/2015 -) )

    Result:  B

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (RECLINING MOTOR) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Passenger Seat / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      PASSENGER SEAT

      Tester Display Test Part Control Ranger Diagnostic Note
      Seat Reclining Seat reclining operation OFF/Front/Rear -

      OK

      Motor operates normally.

    Result:  NG

    NG

  3. CHECK FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH (RECLINING MOTOR CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the Y2 reclining motor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Y2-2 - Y2-3 Reclining switch on 4.8 to 5.1 V

    Result:  NG

    NG

  4. CHECK RECLINING MOTOR (SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK SPRING ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Reconnect the Y2 reclining motor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Y2-2 - Body ground Reclining switch on 4.5 to 4.8 V

      (Reclining Motor (Separate Type Front Seatback Spring Assembly)

    Result:  OK

    REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH 

    (Refer to REMOVAL (07/2015 -) )

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPLACE RECLINING MOTOR (SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK SPRING ASSEMBLY) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL (07/2015 -) )

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH - RECLINING MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the W10 front power seat switch RH connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      W10-11 (SSRR) - Y2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      W10-1 (SGND) - Y2-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      W10-11 (SSRR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      W10-1 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH 

    (Refer to REMOVAL (07/2015 -) )

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. INSPECT RECLINING MOTOR (SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK SPRING ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the Y2 reclining motor connector.

    2. Check if the seatback moves smoothly when the battery is connected to the reclining motor connector terminals.

      OK

      Condition Operational Direction
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Seatback moves forward
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 4
      Seatback moves backward

    Result:  NG

    REPLACE RECLINING MOTOR (SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK SPRING ASSEMBLY)

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH - RECLINING MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the W9 front power seat switch RH connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      W9-9 (RCL+) - Y2-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      W9-11 (RCL-) - Y2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      W9-9 (RCL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      W9-11 (RCL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:  OK

    OK 

    REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH RH 

    (Refer to REMOVAL (07/2015 -) )

    Result:  NG

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
