Installation [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

HINT: 

Perform this procedure only when replacement of the front engine mounting insulator RH is necessary.

1. Install the front engine mounting insulator RH to the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with the nut.

   Torque: 70 N*m (714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf) 

HINT: 

Perform this procedure only when replacement of the front engine mounting insulator LH is necessary.

1. Install the front engine mounting insulator LH to the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with the nut.

   Torque: 70 N*m (714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf)

1. Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
   NOTE:

   Pay attention to the angle of the sling device as the engine assembly or engine hangers may be damaged or deformed if the angle is incorrect.

2. Lift the engine and remove it from the engine stand.
   NOTE:

   With the exception of installing the engine assembly to an engine stand or removing the engine assembly from an engine stand, do not perform any work on the engine while it is suspended, as doing so is dangerous.

3. Place the engine onto a work bench.

1. Install the rear end plate with the 2 bolts.

   Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

1. Install the No. 12 water by-pass hose and slide the clip to secure the hose.

1. Install the No. 13 water by-pass hose and slide the clip to secure the hose.

1. Install the No. 2 air hose and tighten the hose clamp.

   Torque: 6.3 N*m (64 kgf*cm, 56 in.*lbf) 

1. Install the No. 1 air hose and tighten the hose clamp.

   Torque: 6.3 N*m (64 kgf*cm, 56 in.*lbf) 

1. Temporarily install the No. 1 air tube with the 2 bolts.
2. Tighten the 2 hose clamps to secure the No. 1 air tube.

   Torque: 6.3 N*m (64 kgf*cm, 56 in.*lbf) 

3. Tighten the 2 bolts.

   Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

1. Connect the No. 3 PCV hose to the cylinder head sub-assembly and No. 1 air tube.
2. Attach the clamp to connect the No. 3 PCV hose to the engine wire.
3. Slide the 2 hose clamps to secure the No. 3 PCV hose.

1. Install the engine wire to the engine assembly.

1. Install the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly to the engine assembly with the 2 bolts.

   Torque: 35 N*m (357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)

1. Set the engine on an engine lifter.

   HINT: 

   Place the engine on wooden blocks or an equivalent so that the engine is level.

2. Remove the 3 bolts, No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger.
3. Operate the engine lifter and install the engine to the vehicle.
   NOTE:

   Make sure that the engine is clear of all wiring and hoses.

4. Install the engine and transmission assembly with crossmember with the 10 bolts and 2 nuts.

   for nut 

   Torque: 151 N*m (1540 kgf*cm, 111 ft.*lbf) 

5. Connect the rear engine mounting member with the 4 bolts.

   Torque: 34.7 N*m (354 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

1. Connect the ground wire to the automatic trans mission assembly with the bolt.

   Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

1. Install the front lower suspension member protector to the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with the 4 bolts.

   Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

1. Install the 2 frame crossmember assemblies with the 6 bolts.

   Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

1. Move the shift lever to N.
2. Turn the transmission control shaft lever RH counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches.

3. Install the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly to the transmission control shaft lever RH with the pin.

4. Install a new clip.

1. Connect the steering knuckle to the front lower ball joint assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

   Torque: 150 N*m (1530 kgf*cm, 111 ft.*lbf) 

HINT: 

The installation procedure for the RH side is the same as that for the LH side.

1. Tighten the bolt on the lower side of the front shock absorber assembly LH while holding the nut.

   Torque: 108 N*m (1101 kgf*cm, 80 ft.*lbf) 

HINT: 

The installation procedure for the RH side is the same as that for the LH side.

1. Install the front center floor brace sub-assembly with the 4 bolts.

   Torque: 7.4 N*m (75 kgf*cm, 65 in.*lbf)

1. Connect the 2 wire harness clamps, 3 connectors and No. 3 engine room wire.

   HINT: 

   For the connector with lock lever, fully insert the connector and push down the lock lever to engage the lock.

1. Connect the No. 4 engine wire to the generator assembly with the nut.

   Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf) 

2. Close the terminal cap.

1. Attach the wire harness clamp and connect the No. 3 engine wire to the cylinder block sub-assembly with the bolt.

   Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

1. Attach the 2 wire harness clamps to connect the No. 2 engine wire to the wire harness clamp bracket and water by-pass pipe.
2. Connect the No. 2 engine wire to the starter assembly with the nut.

   Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf) 

3. Connect the terminal cap.

1. Attach the claw to connect the connector holder to the engine room ECU box.
2. Attach the wire harness clamp and connect the engine wire with the nut.

   Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

3. Connect the connector of the engine wire to the ECM and lock with the lever.

   NOTE:

   • When connecting a connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter is not stuck between the connector and ECM.
   • Make sure that the lever are securely lowered.
4. Connect the 3 connectors to the engine wire.

1. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to 2 new O-rings and the fitting surface of the suction hose.

   Compressor Oil

   ND-OIL 8 or equivalent

2. Install the 2 O-rings to the suction hose.
3. Install the suction hose with the bolt and nut.

   Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf)

1. Connect the fuel tube sub-assembly to the fuel delivery pipe and fuel pump assembly.

   Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2015 - ]

2. Attach the clamp to connect the fuel tube sub-assembly to the fuel hose bracket.

1. Connect the fuel vapor feed hose to the urge VSV and slide the clamp to secure the hose.

1. Install the outlet heater water hose and slide the 2 hose clamps to secure the hose.
2. Install the water hose set to the outlet heater water hose.

1. Install the inlet heater water hose and slide the 2 hose clamps to secure the hose.
2. Install the water hose set to the inlet heater water hose.

1. Connect the union to check valve hose to the vacuum pump assembly and slide the hose clamp to secure the hose.
2. Attach the clamp to connect the union to check valve hose to the vacuum hose clamp.

1. Install the air cleaner case with the 2 bolts.

   Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

1. Install the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly.

1. Attach the 4 clamps and install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with No. 1 air cleaner hose with the bolt.

   Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

2. Tighten the hose clamp to secure the No. 1 air cleaner hose.

   Torque: 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf) 

3. Attach the 2 wire harness clamps and connect the connector to the intake mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
4. Connect the PCV hose to the No. 1 air cleaner hose and slide the hose clamp to secure the hose.

1. Attach the claw and install the engine under cover side plate RH with the nut.

1. Install the rear engine under cover RH with the screw.

1. Install the front suspension member brace with the clip and 6 bolts.

   Torque: 52 N*m (530 kgf*cm, 38 ft.*lbf) 

1. Install the engine under cover with the 13 screws and 3 clips.

1. Install the No. 1 air cleaner inlet with the bolt.

   Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

1. Install the 3 clips and No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.

1. Install the cool air intake duct seal with the 7 clips.

1. Install the engine room side cover with the 4 clips.
