Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [04/2013 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A77 ECM connector.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)
    2. Measure the resistance between each terminal when the shift paddle is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Paddle Position Specified Condition
      A77-8 (SFTU) - Body ground Pull continuously"+"(Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"+"(Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      A77-7 (SFTD) - Body ground Pull continuously"-"(Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"-"(Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K26 spiral cable connector.

      (to Spiral Cable Sub-Assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K26-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [04/2013 - 10/2016]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 10/2016] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 08/2015]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch LH (Transmission Shift Switch))
    2. Measure the resistance between each terminal when the shift paddle is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Paddle Position Specified Condition
      C-1 (SDN) - C-2 (ECC) Pull continuously"-"(Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"-"(Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  5. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the transmission shift switch.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch RH (Transmission Shift Switch))

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2013 - 08/2015]

    2. Measure the resistance between each terminal when the shift paddle is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Paddle Position Specified Condition
      B-3 (SUP) - B-2 (ECC) Pull continuously"+"(Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"+"(Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015]

  6. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the transmission shift switch.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (No. 1 switch wire)
    2. Disconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector from the steering pad switch.
    3. Measure the resistance between each terminal when the shift paddle is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Paddle Position Specified Condition
      z6-1 (SUP) - z6-3 (ECC) Pull continuously"+"(Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"+"(Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      z6-2 (SDN) - z6-3 (ECC) Pull continuously"-"(Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"-"(Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE SWITCH NO. 1 WIRE

  7. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the No. 1 switch wire connector to the steering pad switch.

      (Steering Pad Switch Assembly)
    2. Disconnect the steering pad switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between each terminal when the shift paddle is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Shift Paddle Position Specified Condition
      z4-6 (SUP) - z4-7 (ECC) Pull continuously"+"(Up shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"+"(Up shift) 1 MΩ or higher
      z4-12 (SDN) - z4-7 (ECC) Pull continuously"-"(Down shift) Below 2.5 Ω
      Release"-"(Down shift) 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 10/2016]

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the K26 spiral cable connector.
    2. Disconnect the A77 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A77-8 (SFTU) - K26-14 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A77-7 (SFTD) - K26-7 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A77-8 (SFTU) or K26-14 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A77-7 (SFTD) or K26-7 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK
