DTC U0232: Lost Communication with Blind Spot Monitor Slave Module [10/2016 - 09/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN BUS MAIN WIRE 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      Q50-1 (CA2P) - Q50-6 (CA2N) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω Below 54 Ω: Short circuit between bus lines
      70 Ω or more: Open circuit in main bus lines
      Q50-1 (CA2P) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Below 200 Ω: CA2P short to ground
      Q50-6 (CA2N) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Below 200 Ω: CA2N short to ground
      Q50-1 (CA2P) - +B Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher Below 6 kΩ: CA2P +B short
      Q50-6 (CA2N) - +B Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher Below 6 kΩ: CA2N +B short

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH - BODY GROUND)

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH - POWER SOURCE) 

    Refer to Power Source Circuit [10/2016 - 09/2020]

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK DTC 
    1. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Turn the engine switch off.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2013 - 09/2020]

      Body Electrical > Blind Spot Monitor Master > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    SYMPTOM SIMULATION. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2016 - 10/2017]  , or refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2017 - 09/2020]

  5. REPLACE BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH 
    1. Replace the blind spot monitor sensor RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2016 - ]

  6. RECHECK DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [04/2013 - 09/2020]

      Body Electrical > Blind Spot Monitor Master > Clear DTCs 

    2. Recheck for DTCs and check if the same DTC is output again.

      Body Electrical > Blind Spot Monitor Master > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

    REPLACE BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2016 - ] 

  7. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS MAIN WIRE (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH) 
    1. Reconnect the Q50 blind spot monitor sensor LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the Q51 blind spot monitor sensor RH connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Q51-1 (CA2P) -Q51-6 (CA2N) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2016 - ]

  8. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS MAIN WIRE (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR LH) 
    1. Disconnect the Q50 blind spot monitor sensor LH connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH) 
    1. Reconnect the Q50 blind spot monitor sensor LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the Q51 blind spot monitor sensor RH connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Disconnect the Q50 blind spot monitor sensor LH connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR LH - BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH) 

  11. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR RH) 
    1. Reconnect the Q50 blind spot monitor sensor LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the Q51 blind spot monitor sensor RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q51-1 (CA2P) - K9-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      Q51-6 (CA2N) - K9-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      Q51-1 (CA2P) - K9-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      Q51-6 (CA2N) - K9-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher

  12. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (BLIND SPOT MONITOR SENSOR LH) 
    1. Disconnect the Q50 blind spot monitor sensor LH connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q50-1 (CA2P) - K9-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      Q50-6 (CA2N) - K9-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      Q50-1 (CA2P) - K9-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
