Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Navigation Receiver Assembly [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MICROPHONE (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter the "Microphone Check" screen.

      Refer to Check Microphone in Operation Check. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2014 - ] .

    2. When a voice is input into the microphone, check that the microphone input level meter changes according to the input voice.
    3. Push the recording switch and perform voice recording.

      HINT: 

      • Select the recording switch with the blower motor of the air conditioning system stopped. If an outlet of the air conditioning system is facing the microphone, noise may be recorded.
      • Voice can be recorded for up to 5 seconds.
    4. Check that the recording indicator remains on while recording and that the recorded voice is played normally without noise or distortion.

      OK

      All check results are normal.

  2. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the H97 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the T11 roof console box assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H97-29 (MACC) - T11-4 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-27 (MIN+) - T11-3 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-48 (MIN-) - T11-2 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-49 (SNS2) - T11-1 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-29 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H97-27 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H97-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H97-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H97-49 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H97-29 (MACC) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H97-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the H97 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the T11 roof console box assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H97-49 (SNS2) - T11-1 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-49 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)) 
    1. Disconnect the H97 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H101 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H97-27 (MIN+) - H101-18 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-48 (MIN-) - H101-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-27 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H97-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H97-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the H101 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the T11 roof console box assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H101-33 (MCVD) - T11-4 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      H101-34 (MCI+) - T11-3 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      H101-35 (MCI-) - T11-2 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      H101-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H101-34 (MCI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H101-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H101-32 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the H101 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H97-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      H97-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  9. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H101-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      H101-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      H101-32 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  10. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the roof console box assembly (telephone microphone assembly). Refer to REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (SNS2) - 2 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω

  11. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 3 (MCO+) and 2 (MCO-) of the T11 roof console box assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.

    3. Check the waveform of the roof console box assembly (telephone microphone assembly) using the oscilloscope.

      Result

  12. REPLACE TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the telephone microphone assembly with a new or known good one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] .
    2. Check if the same malfunction recurs.

  16. REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  17. REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ]
