On-Vehicle Inspection [04/2013 - ]: Procedure

INSPECT STEERING WHEEL FREE PLAY
1. Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle is in a state in which power steering can operate.
2. Stop the vehicle and position the front wheels straight ahead.
3. Gently turn the steering wheel right and left, and check steering wheel free play.

  30 mm (1.18 in.)
  
  HINT:
  
  If the free play exceeds the maximum, check the steering system.
