Headlight Cleaner Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
    1. Remove the light control rheostat. Refer to REMOVAL [09/2012 - ] .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (B) - 5 (E) Headlight cleaner switch ON (Pushed) Below 200 Ω
      2 (B) - 5 (E) Headlight cleaner switch OFF (Not pushed) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RHEOSTAT - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the L8 switch connector.

    2. Disconnect L13 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L8-2 (B) - L13-10 (HDLC) Always Below 1 Ω
      L8-5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      L13-10 (HDLC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CONTROL RELAY - FRONT LIGHT ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the A6 relay connector.

    2. Disconnect the A51 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A6-1 (HDLO) - A51-5 (HDLO) Always Below 1 Ω
      A6-2 (H) - A51-6 (H) Always Below 1 Ω
      A6-5 (FRWA) - A51-7 (FRWA) Always Below 1 Ω
      A6-1 (HDLO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A6-2 (H) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A6-5 (FREWA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FRONT LIGHT ECU 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A51-5 (HDLO) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), light control switch OFF 11 to 14 V
      A51-5 (HDLO) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), light control switch in HEAD Below 1 V
      A51-6 (H) - Body ground Headlight cleaner switch OFF 11 to 14 V
      A51-6 (H) - Body ground Headlight cleaner switch ON Below 1 V
      A51-7 (FRWA) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), front washer is stopped 11 to 14 V
      A51-7 (FRWA) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), front washer is operated Below 1 V

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2012 - ]  
  6. REPLACE HEADLIGHT CLEANER CONTROL RELAY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2012 - ] 
  7. REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2012 - ]
