Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the P64 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the L5 and M12 front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the L1 and M13 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the P46 and Q21 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the J101 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    6. w/o Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly RH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-13 (FR+) - L5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-28 (FR-) - L5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-13 (FR+) - J101-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-28 (FR-) - J101-3 (SPI-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J101-5 (SPO+) - L5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J101-6 (SPO-) - L5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly LH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-12 (FL+) - M12-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-27 (FL-) - M12-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    10. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-5 (WFR+) - L1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-20 (WFR-) - L1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-4 (WFL+) - M13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-19 (WFL-) - M13-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    11. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-15 (RR+) - P46-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-30 (RR-) - P46-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-14 (RL+) - Q21-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-29 (RL-) - Q21-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    12. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P64-13 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P64-28 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P64-12 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      P64-5 (WFR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    13. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly RH and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      L5-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-2 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 3 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1 - 2 Always 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 3 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

  5. REPLACE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 3 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → END (FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  6. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  7. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the P64 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the L5 and M12 front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the L1 and M13 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the P46 and Q21 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the P45 and Q20 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the P21 stereo component speaker assembly connector.
    7. Disconnect the K2 front No. 4 speaker assembly connector.
    8. Disconnect the J101 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) switch).
    9. w/o Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly RH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-13 (FR+) - L5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-28 (FR-) - L5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    10. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P64-13 (FR+) - J101-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω

    11. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    12. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 and No. 3 speaker assembly LH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P64-12 (FL+) - M12-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-27 (FL-) - M12-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    13. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P64-5 (WFR+) - L1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-20 (WFR-) - L1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-4 (WFL+) - M13-1 Always Below 1 Ω

    14. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P64-15 (RR+) - P45-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-30 (RR-) - P45-3 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-14 (RL+) - Q20-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-29 (RL-) - Q20-3 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    15. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and the rear speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P45-2 (+TW) - P46-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P45-4 (-TW) - P46-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q20-2 (+TW) - Q21-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      Q20-4 (-TW) - Q21-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    16. Measure the resistance between the stereo component speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-9 (WF1+) - P21-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-10 (WF2+) - P21-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    17. Measure the resistance between the front No. 4 speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P64-7 (CTR+) - K2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P64-22 (CTR-) - K2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    18. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P64-13 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P64-28 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P64-12 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      P64-5 (WFR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      L5-2 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    20. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P46-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P46-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q21-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q21-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      L5-1-2 - L5-1-4 Always 10 kΩ or higher

  10. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

  15. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY
