Radio Broadcast cannot be Received or Poor Reception: Procedure

  1. CHECK MULTIMEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the radio automatic station search function.
      1. Check the radio automatic station search function by activating it.

        Result

        Result Proceed to
        Automatic station search function does not stop A
        Automatic station search function stops on a station B

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK OPTIONAL COMPONENTS 
    1. Check if any optional components that may decrease reception capacity, such as sunshade film or a telephone antenna, are installed.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Optional components are not installed A
      Optional components are installed B
      NOTE: Do not remove optional components without the permission of the customer.

    B → REMOVE OPTIONAL COMPONENTS AND CHECK AGAIN (SEE NOTICE ABOVE) 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK RADIO ANTENNA 
    1. Preparation for check
      1. Remove the roof antenna pole sub-assembly from the with holder antenna assembly.
    2. Check for noise
      1. Turn the engine switch on (ACC) with the multimedia module receiver assembly connector connected.
      2. Turn the radio on and tune into AM mode.
      3. Place a screwdriver, thin wire or other metal object on the with holder antenna assembly threaded installation portion for the roof antenna pole sub-assembly and check that noise can be heard from the speakers.

        Result

        Noise does not occur A
        Noise occurs B

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK MULTIMEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Preparation for check

      1. Remove the antenna connector from the multimedia module receiver assembly.
    2. Check for noise
      1. Turn the engine switch on (ACC) with the multimedia module receiver assembly connector connected.
      2. Turn the radio on and tune into AM mode.
      3. Place a screwdriver, thin wire or other metal object on the multimedia module receiver assembly antenna jack and check that noise can be heard from the speakers.

        OK

        Noise can be heard from the speakers.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT MULTIMEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the RA multimedia module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      RA-5 (ANT+) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC)
      Radio switch on and AM or FM selected
      11 to 14 V

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Multimedia Module Receiver Assembly)

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE NO. 4 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the No. 4 antenna cord sub-assembly and check if radio broadcasts can be received normally. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Radio broadcasts can be received normally.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → NORMAL OPERATION 

  7. REPLACE NO. 3 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the No. 3 antenna cord sub-assembly and check if radio broadcasts can be received normally. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Radio broadcasts can be received normally.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → NORMAL OPERATION 

  8. REPLACE ROOF ANTENNA POLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the roof antenna pole sub-assembly and check if radio broadcasts can be received normally. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Radio broadcasts can be received normally.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK → NORMAL OPERATION 

  9. REPLACE WITH HOLDER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the with holder antenna assembly and check if radio broadcasts can be received normally. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Radio broadcasts can be received normally.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → NORMAL OPERATION 

  10. REPLACE MULTIMEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]
