Power Seat Power Easy Access System Function does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Use the Techstream to check if the multiplex communication system is functioning normally. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Multiplex communication DTC is not output.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SEAT RESTORING FUNCTION 
    1. Perform a seat restoring operation properly. Refer to OPERATION CHECK [08/2012 - ] .
    2. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves to the memorized position.
      NOTE:
      • The seat position will not return to the memorized position if the 2 or more of the seat memory switches (for example, M1 switch and M2 switch) are pressed simultaneously.
      • If a restoring operation has failed, release all switches. The seat memory restoring function does not operate unless the switches are released.

      OK

      Seat position memory function operates normally.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FOLD & RETURN SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Driver Seat or Passenger Seat / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      DRIVER SEAT/PASSENGER SEAT

      Return SW Return switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Return switch on
      OFF: Return switch off

      Front Fold SW Front fold switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Front fold switch on

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT) 
    1. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      DRIVER SEAT/PASSENGER SEAT

      Buckle Switch Buckle switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Seat belt is fastened with the seat occupied
      OFF: Seat belt is not fastened with the seat occupied

      Occupant Sensor Occupant sensor signal / ON or OFF ON: Occupant sensor on with seat belt is not fastened
      OFF: Occupant sensor off with seat belt is not fastened
      -

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   14 

  5. INSPECT FOLD & RETURN SWITCH 
    1. for LH side.
      1. Remove the fold & return switch LH. Refer to INSPECTION [08/2012 - ] .

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        U18-3 (MRR) - U18-4 (E) Return switch on Below 1 Ω
        U18-3 (MRR) - U18-4 (E) Return switch off 10 kΩ or higher
        U18-1 (MRF) - U18-4 (E) Fold switch on Below 1 Ω
        U18-1 (MRF) - Body ground Fold switch oFF 10 kΩ or higher
        U18-1 (MRF) - U18-3 (MRR) Always 10 kΩ or higher

        *1 Component without harness connected
        (Fold & Return Switch)
    2. for RH side.
      1. Remove the fold & return switch RH. Refer to INSPECTION [08/2012 - ] .

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T21-3 (MSF) - T21-4 (E) Fold switch on Below 1 Ω
        T21-3 (MSF) - T21-4 (E) Fold switch off 10 kΩ or higher
        T21-1 (MSR) - T21-4 (E) Return switch on Below 1 Ω
        T21-1 (MSR) - Body ground Return switch off 10 kΩ or higher
        T21-1 (MSR) - T21-3 (MSF) Always 10 kΩ or higher
        TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

        *1 Component without harness connected
        (Fold & Return Switch)

    NG → REPLACE FOLD & RETURN SWITCH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POSITION CONTROL ECU AND SWITCH - FOLD & RETURN SWITCH) 
    1. for LH side.
      1. Disconnect the U7 connector from the position control ECU and switch assembly LH.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        U7-10 (SLDR) - U18-3 (MRR) Always Below 1 Ω
        U7-11 (SLDF) - U18-1 (MRF) Always Below 1 Ω
        U18-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
        U7-10 (SLDR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        U7-11 (SLDF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for RH side.
      1. Disconnect the T7 connector from the position control ECU and switch assembly RH.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T7-10 (SLDR) - T21-1 (MSR) Always Below 1 Ω
        T7-11 (SLDF) - T21-3 (MSF) Always Below 1 Ω
        T21-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
        T7-10 (SLDR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        T7-11 (SLDF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POSITION CONTROL ECU AND SWITCH - FOLD & RETURN SWITCH) 

    OK → See step   14 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POSITION CONTROL ECU AND SWITCH - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT) 
    1. for LH side.
      1. Disconnect the U6 connector from the position control ECU and switch LH.

      2. Disconnect the U4 connector from the front seat inner belt assembly LH.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        U6-3 (DRDC) - U4-5 (RDC) Always Below 1 Ω
        U6-10 (ODS) - U4-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
        U6-3 (DRDC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        U6-10 (ODS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for RH side.
      1. Disconnect the T6 connector from the position control ECU and switch assembly LH.
      2. Disconnect the T3 connector from the front seat inner belt assembly LH.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T6-3 (PRDC) - T3-5 (RDC) Always Below 1 Ω
        T6-10 (ODS) - T3-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
        T6-3 (PRDC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        T6-10 (ODS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POSITION CONTROL ECU AND SWITCH - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY 
    1. for LH side.
      1. Disconnect the AA connector from the occupant detection sensor.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        U4-1 (+) - AA-1 Always Below 1 Ω
        U4-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        U4-4 (E) - U4-5 (RDC) Tongue plate is engaged Below 1 Ω
        U4-4 (E) - U4-5 (RDC) Tongue plate is disengaged 10 kΩ or higher
        U4-4 (E) - AA-3 Tongue plate is disengaged Below 1 Ω
        U4-4 (E) - AA-3 Tongue plate is engaged 10 kΩ or higher
    2. for RH side.
      1. Disconnect the BB connector from the occupant detection sensor.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T3-1 (+) - BB-1 Always Below 1 Ω
        T3-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        T3-4 (E) - BB-3 Tongue plate is disengaged Below 1 Ω
        T3-4 (E) - BB-3 Tongue plate is engaged 10 kΩ or higher
        T3-4 (E) - T3-5 (RDC) Tongue plate is disengaged Below 1 Ω
        T3-4 (E) - T3-5 (RDC) Tongue plate is engaged 10 kΩ or higher

  9. INSPECT OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR (SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION PAD) 
    1. Remove the occupant detection sensor (separate type front seat cushion pad). Refer to DISASSEMBLY [08/2012 - ] - Step 12 .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      AA-1 - AA-3*1
      BB-1 - BB-3*2
      Front passenger side seat occupied Below 1 Ω
      AA-1 - AA-3*1
      BB-1 - BB-3*2
      Front passenger side seat not occupied 1 MΩ or higher

  10. GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2012 - ] 
  11. GO TO OTHER FLOW CHART (Power Seat does not Return to Memorized Position). Refer to  Power Seat does not Return to Memorized Position  
  12. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] 
  13. REPLACE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [08/2012 - ] 
  14. REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU AND SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]
