Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Operate Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "ACTIVE TEST".

      Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Remind Front passenger side seat belt indicator light OFF/ON Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling

      Result

      OK (w/o Multi-display) A
      OK (w/ Multi-display) B
      NG C

      OK

      Switch condition (ON/OFF) can be switched by "ACTIVE TEST".

    B → See step   5 

    C → GO TO COMBINATION METER SYSTEM 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL +B) 
    1. Disconnect the integration control & panel connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J54-4 (IG+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL 
    1. Disconnect the integration control & panel connector.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the connector according to the table below.

      Voltage

      Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4 (IG+)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 13 (PBEW)
      Lights up (Seat belt warning light)

    NG → REPLACE INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INTEGRATION CONTROL & PANEL - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly and integration control & panel connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J35-3 (PBLT) - J54-13 (PBEW) Always Below 1 Ω
      J35-3 (PBLT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    OK → See step   8 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CLOCK ASSEMBLY +B) 
    1. Disconnect the clock assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J92-15 (IG+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK CLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the clock assembly connector.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the connector according to the table below.

      Voltage

      Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 15 (IG+)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (PBEW)
      Lights up (Seat belt warning light)

    NG → REPLACE CLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CLOCK ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter assembly and clock assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J35-3 (PBLT) - J92-12 (PBEW) Always Below 1 Ω
      J35-3 (PBLT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER (OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the occupant detection sensor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-1 - A-3 The passenger seat is occupied Below 100 Ω
      A-1 - A-3 The passenger seat is not occupied Below 1 MΩ

    NG → REPLACE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER (OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT RH) 
    1. Disconnect the front seat inner belt RH connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J35-4 (P/SB) - T3-1 (WS+) Always Below 1 Ω
      T3-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY (PASSENGER SIDE) 
    1. Replace the front seat inner belt assembly (Passenger side).

      OK

      Seat belt warning operation returns to normal.

    NG → REPLACE COMBINATION METER 

    OK → END
