Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the P49 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the L5 and M12 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the L2 and M4 front No. 3 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the J114 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    5. Disconnect the L1 and M13 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the N6 and O6 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Disconnect the N4 and O4 rear No. 3 speaker assembly connectors.
    8. Disconnect the N3 and O3 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    9. Disconnect the P47 stereo component speaker assembly connector.
    10. w/o Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker assembly RH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P49-13 (FR+) - L2-1 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-28 (FR-) - L2-3 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    11. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P49-13 (FR+) - J114-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-28 (FR-) - J114-3 (SPI-) Always Below 1 Ω
    12. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker assembly RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      J114-5 (SPO+) - L2-1 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J114-6 (SPO-) - L2-3 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    13. Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker assembly LH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P49-12 (FL+) - M4-1 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-27 (FL-) - M4-3 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    14. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the front No. 3 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      L2-2 (+) - L5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      L2-4 (-) - L5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      M4-2 (+) - M12-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      M4-4 (-) - M12-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    15. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P49-5 (WFR+) - L1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-20 (WFR-) - L1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-4 (WFL+) - M13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-19 (WFL-) - M13-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    16. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 3 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P49-11 (MR+) - N4-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-26 (MR-) - N4-3 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-10 (ML+) - O4-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-25 (ML-) - O4-3 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    17. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 3 speaker assemblies and the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      N4-2 (+TW) - N6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N4-4 (-TW) - N6-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      O4-2 (+TW) - O6-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      O4-4 (-TW) - O6-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    18. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P49-15 (RR+) - N3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-30 (RR-) - N3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-14 (RL+) - O3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-29 (RL-) - O3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    19. Measure the resistance between the stereo component speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P49-6 (WF1+) - P47-1 (WF1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P49-21 (WF1-) - P47-2 (WF1-) Always Below 1 Ω
    20. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      P49-28 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker assembly RH and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      L2-3 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    22. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      L5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M12-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M12-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    23. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N6-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N6-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O6-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O6-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the P49 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the L5 and M12 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the L2 and M4 front No. 3 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the L1 and M13 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the K2 front stereo component speaker assembly connector.
    6. Disconnect the N2 and O2 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Disconnect the N5 and O5 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    8. Disconnect the Q26 and Q22 rear stereo component speaker assembly connectors.
    9. Disconnect the P21 stereo component speaker assembly connector.
    10. Disconnect the J114 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) switch).
    11. w/o Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker assembly RH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

    18. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    19. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and the rear speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    20. Measure the resistance between each of the rear stereo component speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    21. Measure the resistance between the stereo component speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    22. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    24. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      L5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      M12-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    25. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N2-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N2-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O2-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      O2-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  12. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  13. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speakers that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   14

  14. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 3 speaker assembly.

    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speakers that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left rear speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.
