Multi-Display Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT MULTI-DISPLAY SWITCH 
    1. Remove the multi-display switch.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      12 (SW1) - 6 (E) "OPEN/CLOSE" switch not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
      "OPEN/CLOSE" switch pressed Below 1 Ω
      11 (SW2) - 6 (E) "TILT" switch not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
      "TILT" switch pressed Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Multi-display Switch)

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY SWITCH - DISPLAY MODULE BOARD) 
    1. Disconnect the H89 multi-display switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the H21 display module board connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H89-12 (SW1) - H21-13 (VCC) Always Below 1 Ω
      H89-11 (SW2) - H21-14 (VDD) Always Below 1 Ω
      H89-12 (SW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H89-11 (SW2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H89-6 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   3 

  3. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2012 - ] 
  4. REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]
