Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors shown in the illustration from the stereo component amplifier assembly, speakers and DCM (telematics transceiver)*1.

      *A w/ Manual (SOS) Switch
      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly)

    2. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P51-3 (WFL+) - M13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P51-8 (WFL-) - M13-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      P51-10 (WFR+) - L1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P51-9 (WFR-) - L1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker LH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P28-1 (FL+) - M12-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P28-5 (FL-) - M12-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    4. w/o Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P28-2 (FR+) - L5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P28-6 (FR-) - L5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P28-2 (FR+) - J101-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      P28-6 (FR-) - J101-3 (SPI-) Always Below 1 Ω
    6. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J101-5 (SPO+) - L5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J101-6 (SPO-) - L5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.
      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P51-4 (RL+) - Q21-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P51-11 (RL-) - Q21-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      P51-5 (RR+) - P46-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      P51-12 (RR-) - P46-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.
      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P51-3 (WFL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P51-8 (WFL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P51-10 (WFR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P51-9 (WFR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P51-4 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P51-11 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P51-5 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P51-12 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P28-2 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P28-6 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P28-1 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P28-5 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    9. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch:

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L5-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L5-2 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
        STANDARD RESISTANCE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        M13-1 - M13-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        L1-1 - L1-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
        STANDARD RESISTANCE

        M12-1 (+) - M12-2 (-) Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        M12-1 (+) - m12-1 (SQ+) Always Below 1 Ω
        M12-2 (-) - m12-3 (SQ-) Always Below 1 Ω
        L5-1 (+) - L5-2 (-) Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        L5-1 (+) - L24-1 (SQ+) Always Below 1 Ω
        L5-2 (-) - L24-3 (SQ-) Always Below 1 Ω

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
        STANDARD RESISTANCE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        m12-1 (SQ+) - m12-3 (SQ-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
        L24-1 (SQ+) - L24-3 (SQ-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. REPLACE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 3 speakers that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → END (FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  6. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
        STANDARD RESISTANCE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        Q21-1 - Q21-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        P46-1 - P46-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    2. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  7. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
        STANDARD RESISTANCE

        J101-3 (SPI-) - J101-6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω

  9. REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE REAR SPEAKER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. REPLACE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  13. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL
