Transmission Control Cable: Removal: Removal

  1. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the console box. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. w/ Refrigerated Cool Box:

      Remove the console box. Refer to REMOVAL .

  2. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. Disconnect the transmission control cable end from the shift lever.

    3. Rotate the socket counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the socket in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

      NOTE:

      Do not over-rotate the socket as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

    4. Remove the nut and clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the automatic transmission.

    5. Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable from the shift lever assembly.
    6. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the ground cable and transmission control cable support.

    7. Remove the 2 nuts and detach the 3 claws, and then pull out the transmission control cable.
