Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Multi-display: Procedure

  1. CHECK DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L59-7 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-6 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the L59 display and navigation module display connector.
    2. Disconnect the X4 map light assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      w/ Manual (SOS) Switch 

      w/o Manual (SOS) Switch 

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L59-20 (SNS2) - X4-31 (SIN2) Always Below 1 Ω
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L59-5 (MIN+) - X4-21 (MI1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-6 (MIN-) - X4-20 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-4 (MACC) - X4-22 (ACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-20 (SNS2) - X4-31 (SIN2) Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-5 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L59-6 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L59-4 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L59-20 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L59-7 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY - TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the L59 display and navigation module display connector.
    2. Disconnect the L111 telematics transceiver connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L59-5 (MIN+) - L111-18 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-6 (MIN-) - L111-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-5 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L59-6 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L59-7 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the L111 telematics transceiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the X4 map light assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L111-33 (MCVD) - X4-22 (ACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      L111-34 (MCI+) - X4-21 (MI1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L111-35 (MCI-) - X4-20 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L111-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L111-34 (MCI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L111-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L111-32 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L111-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 5 V

  6. CHECK MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      X4-31 (SIN2) - X4-20 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω

  7. CHECK MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the L59 display and navigation module display connector.

    2. Reconnect the L111 telematics transceiver connector.
    3. Reconnect the X4 map light assembly connector.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    5. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 21 (MI1+) and 20 (MIC-) of the X4 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    6. Check the waveform of the telephone microphone assembly using the oscilloscope.

      Waveform synchronized with the voice input to the map light assembly is output A

  8. REPLACE TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the telephone microphone assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Check if the same malfunction recurs.
      RESULT

      Malfunction recurs B

  9. CHECK DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY 
    1. Reconnect the L59 display and navigation module display connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      L59-4 (MACC) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 5 V

  10. CHECK MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  11. CHECK MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the L59 display and navigation module display connector.

    2. Reconnect the X4 map light assembly connector.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    4. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 21 (MI1+) and 20 (MIC-) of the X4 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    5. Check the waveform of the telephone microphone assembly using the oscilloscope.

  12. CHECK TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the telephone microphone assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Check if the same malfunction recurs.

  13. REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  14. REPLACE TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  15. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  16. REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
