Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the stereo component amplifier assembly and speakers.
    2. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and the front No. 2 speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G5-1 (+) - I5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      G5-2 (-) - I5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      G3-1 (+) - H5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      G3-2 (-) - H5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker LH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F43-3 (FL+) - G5-3 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F43-8 (FL-) - G5-4 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    4. w/o Manual (SOS) Switch

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F43-10 (FR+) - G3-3 (VR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F43-9 (FR-) - G3-4 (VR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch

      Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F43-10 (FR+) - F38-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F43-9 (FR-) - F38-3 (SPI-) Always Below 1 Ω
    6. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F38-5 (SPO+) - G3-3 (VR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F38-6 (SPO-) - G3-4 (VR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F43-4 (RL+) - K6-3 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F43-11 (RL-) - K6-1 (-TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F43-5 (RR+) - J6-3 (+TW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F43-12 (RR-) - J6-1 (-TW) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speakers and the rear speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K6-4 (+) - K4-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      K6-2 (-) - K4-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      J6-4 (+) - J4-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      J6-2 (-) - J4-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Measure the resistance between each of the rear stereo component speaker and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F24-1 (WF1+) - L37-2 (WF1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F24-5 (WF1-) - L37-1 (WF1-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F24-2 (WF2+) - L37-4 (WF2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F24-6 (WF2-) - L37-3 (WF2-) Always Below 1 Ω
    10. Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F24-8 (CTR+) - G2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      F24-7 (CTR-) - G2-1 Always Below 1 Ω
    11. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F43-3 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F43-8 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F43-10 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F43-9 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F43-4 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F43-11 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F43-5 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F43-12 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F24-1 (WF1+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F24-5 (WF1-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F24-2 (WF2+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F24-6 (WF2-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F24-8 (CTR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F24-7 (CTR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    12. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    13. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K4-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K4-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J4-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J4-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    14. w/ Manual (SOS) Switch

      Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker RH and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G3-3 (VR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G3-4 (VR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        I5-1 - I5-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        H5-1 - H5-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        G5-3 (TWL+) - G5-4 (TWL-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
        G5-3 (TWL+) - G5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
        G5-4 (TWL-) - G5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
        G3-3 (VR+) - G5-4 (VR-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
        G3-3 (VR+) - G5-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
        G3-4 (VR-) - G5-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speakers that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → END (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. INSPECT FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        G2-1 - G2-2 Always 4.8 to 7.2 Ω

    NG → See step   12 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        K4-1 - K4-2 Always 4 to 6 Ω
        J4-1 - J4-2 Always 4 to 6 Ω

  7. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        K6-3 (+TW) - K6-1 (-TW) Always 10 kΩ or higher
        K6-3 (+TW) - K6-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
        K6-1 (-TW) - K6-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
        J6-3 (+TW) - J6-1 (-TW) Always 10 kΩ or higher
        J6-3 (+TW) - J6-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
        J6-1 (-TW) - J6-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed. Refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speakers that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left rear speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK → END (REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  9. INSPECT REAR STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        L37-2 (WF1+) - L37-1 (WF1-) Always 2.4 to 3.6 Ω
        L37-4 (WF2+) - L37-3 (WF2-) Always 2.4 to 3.6 Ω

    2. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  10. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  18. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL
