Park/Neutral Position Switch: Removal: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
  3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 13
  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 16
  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 18
  7. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19
  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER BRACKET 
    1. Separate the wire harness clamp.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner bracket.
  9. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the clip from the transmission cable bracket.

    2. Remove the nut and transmission control cable from the control shaft lever.

    3. Disconnect the connector from the park/neutral position switch.
    4. Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever from the control shaft.

    5. Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch from the control shaft.

      NOTE: Before removing the park/neutral position switch, remove any dirt or rust on the installation portion of the control shaft. Be sure to remove the switch straight along the shaft while being careful not to deform the plate spring that supports the shaft. If the plate spring is deformed, the park/neutral switch cannot be reinstalled correctly.
