Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate when Key is Outside Luggage Compartment: Procedure

  1. CHECK SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START 
    1. Check that the entry lock and unlock function can be operated at each door.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Entry function can be performed A
      Entry function cannot be performed B

  2. CHECK LUGGAGE DOOR OPENER OPERATION 
    1. When the luggage compartment door opener switch is operated, check that the luggage compartment door opens.
      RESULT

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.
      BODY NO. 4 (REAR ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition
      Luggage Push Switch Luggage compartment door opener switch / ON or OFF ON: Luggage compartment door opener switch is pushed
      OFF: Luggage compartment door opener switch is not pushed

      OK

      On the screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT 
    1. Bring the electrical key transmitter near the electrical key antenna (in rear bumper), and perform an entry luggage compartment open function check.

      NOTE:

      If the key is brought within 0.2 m (0.6 ft) of the rear bumper, communication is not possible.

      HINT: 

      • When the electrical key transmitter is brought near the electrical key antenna, the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.
      • If the inspection result is that the operation check is normal, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation check.
      RESULT

    B → AFFECTED BY WAVE INTERFERENCE

  5. KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE 
    1. Diagnostic mode inspection (rear inside oscillator)

      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Turn the Techstream on.
      4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Smart Communication Check /Overhead + Luggage.
      5. When the electrical key transmitter is held at the same height as the rear bumper upper surface and aligned with the center of the rear of the vehicle, check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

        HINT: 

        If the buzzer sounds, it can be determined that the luggage compartment exterior transmitter is operating normally.

        OK

        Wireless door lock buzzer sounds

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA - CERTIFICATION ECU)

    1. Disconnect the R40 antenna connector.
    2. Disconnect the L15 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L15-31 (CLG8) - R40-1 (CLG5) Always Below 1 Ω
      L15-32 (CG8B) - R40-2 (CLGB) Always Below 1 Ω
      L15-31 (CLG8) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L15-32 (CG8B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the electrical key antenna with a new one or normally functioning one. Refer toREMOVAL .
    2. Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally.

      OK

      Operates normally

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → END (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA IS DEFECTIVE) 

  8. CHECK REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the luggage junction block ECU with a new one or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally.

      OK

      Operates normally

    NG → REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU 

    OK → END (JUNCTION BLOCK ECU IS DEFECTIVE) 

  9. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 OFF Below 1 Ω
      1 - 2 ON 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   22 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH - LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)

    1. Disconnect the S38 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S38-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S38-2 - S63-6 (LPSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      S38-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 

  11. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.
      BACK DOOR (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition
      Back Door Handle SW Luggage compartment door opener switch / ON or OFF ON: Luggage compartment door opener switch is pushed
      OFF: Luggage compartment door opener switch is not pushed

      HINT: 

      For vehicles with the power trunk opener and closer system, the Data List of the power trunk opener and closer ECU can be used to check the luggage compartment door opener switch information. For vehicles without the power trunk opener and closer system, the Data List of the luggage room junction block ECU can be used to check the luggage compartment door opener switch information.

      OK

      On the screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

    NG → See step   17 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT 
    1. Bring the electrical key transmitter near the electrical key antenna (in rear bumper), and perform an entry luggage compartment open function check.

      NOTE:

  13. KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE

      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  14. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA - CERTIFICATION ECU)

    1. Disconnect the R40 antenna connector.
    2. Disconnect the L15 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L15-31 (CLG8) - R40-1 (CLG5) Always Below 1 Ω
      L15-32 (CG8B) - R40-2 (CLGB) Always Below 1 Ω
      L15-31 (CLG8) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L15-32 (CG8B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the electrical key antenna with a new one or normally functioning one. Refer toREMOVAL .
    2. Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally.

      OK

      Operates normally

    NG → See step   16 

    OK → END (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA IS DEFECTIVE) 

  16. CHECK LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER MOTOR (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the luggage closer motor with a new one or normally functioning one. Refer toREMOVAL .
    2. Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally.

      OK

      Operates normally

    NG → REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU 

    OK → END (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR IS DEFECTIVE) 

  17. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 OFF Below 1 Ω
      1 - 2 ON 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   23 

    OK: Go to next step 

  18. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH - LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER MOTOR)

    1. Disconnect the S38 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the S43 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S38-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S38-2 - S43-19 (LPSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      S38-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   24 

  19. GO TO DTC OF OTHER COMPONENTS (PROCEED TO PROBLEM SYMPTOM FLOWCHART FOR EACH DOOR). Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
  20. GO TO LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SYSTEM. Refer to PRECAUTION 
  21. GO TO POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM. Refer to PRECAUTION 
  22. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH. Refer to REMOVAL 
  23. REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH. Refer to REMOVAL 
  24. REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to COMPONENTS 
  25. REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to COMPONENTS
