Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode: Procedure

  1. CHECK OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR BRANCH LINE) 
    1. Turn the engine switch off.
    2. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector (J23).
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Value
      J23-10 (CANH) - J23-9 (CANL) Engine switch off 54 to 69 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR (CANH, CANL) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (IG, ESS) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Value
      J23-2 (ESS) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Value
      J23-1 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   3 

  3. REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL
