Steering Column Assembly: Inspection: Inspection

  1. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (Tilt Motor) 
    1. Inspect the tilt motor.

      1. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal TIM+ and a negative (-) lead to terminal TIM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts up.

        OK

        The steering wheel tilts up.

      2. Connect a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal TIM+ and a positive (+) lead to terminal TIM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts down.

        OK

        The steering wheel tilts down.

  2. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (Telescopic Motor) 
    1. Inspect the telescopic motor.

      1. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal TEM+ and a negative (-) lead to terminal TEM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column contracts.

        OK

        The steering column contracts.

      2. Connect a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal TEM+ and a positive (+) lead to terminal TEM- of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column extends.

        OK

        The steering column extends.
