DTC B2509: Short in Pulse Width Modulation Motor RH Circuit: Procedure

  1. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH (ROOF DRIVE MOTOR RH OPERATION) 
    1. Remove the sliding roof drive gear RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check operation of the sliding roof drive gear RH.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 3
      Turns clockwise
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Turns counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH (LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE MOTOR RH) 
    1. Remove the luggage door drive gear RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check operation of the luggage door drive gear RH.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 3
      Turns clockwise
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Turns counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY (CLOSER MOTOR RH OPERATION) 
    1. Remove the luggage closer motor RH. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .

    2. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals and check operation of the luggage closer motor RH.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 2
      Turns clockwise
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 2
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Turns counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT (ECU - SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR RH) 
    1. Disconnect the S20 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the R17 drive gear connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S20-2 (RMR-) - S20-6 (RMR+) 10 kΩ or higher
      S20-2 (RMR-) - Body ground 10 kΩor higher
      S20-6 (RMR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT (ECU - LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR RH) 
    1. Disconnect the S20 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the L18 drive gear connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S20-4 (LMR-) - S20-5 (LMR+) 10 kΩ or higher
      S20-4 (LMR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S20-5 (LMR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT (ECU - LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR RH) 
    1. Disconnect the S19 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the L16 motor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S19-4 (LFR+) - S19-12 (LFR-) 10 kΩ or higher
      S19-4 (LFR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S19-12 (LFR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU 



  1. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH (ROOF DRIVE MOTOR RH OPERATION) 
    1. Remove the sliding roof drive gear RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check operation of the sliding roof drive gear RH.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 3
      Turns clockwise
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Turns counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH (LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE MOTOR RH) 
    1. Remove the luggage door drive gear RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check operation of the luggage door drive gear RH.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 3
      Turns clockwise
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Turns counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY (CLOSER MOTOR RH OPERATION) 
    1. Remove the luggage closer motor RH. Refer to DISASSEMBLY .

    2. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals and check operation of the luggage closer motor RH.

      OK

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 2
      Turns clockwise
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 2
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1
      Turns counterclockwise

    NG → REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT (ECU - SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR RH) 
    1. Disconnect the S20 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the R17 drive gear connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S20-2 (RMR-) - S20-6 (RMR+) 10 kΩ or higher
      S20-2 (RMR-) - Body ground 10 kΩor higher
      S20-6 (RMR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT (ECU - LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR RH) 
    1. Disconnect the S20 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the L18 drive gear connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S20-4 (LMR-) - S20-5 (LMR+) 10 kΩ or higher
      S20-4 (LMR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S20-5 (LMR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT (ECU - LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR RH) 
    1. Disconnect the S19 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the L16 motor connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S19-4 (LFR+) - S19-12 (LFR-) 10 kΩ or higher
      S19-4 (LFR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S19-12 (LFR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU
