Pattern Select Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the connector of pattern select switch. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J36-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (E) - 6 (P) Press continuously pattern select switch
      (SPORT)
      Below 1 Ω
      Release pattern select switch
      (SPORT)
      10 kΩ or higher
      1 (E) - 3 (2ND) Press continuously pattern select switch
      (SNOW)
      Below 1 Ω
      Release pattern select switch
      (SNOW)
      10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Connect the connector of pattern select switch.

    2. Disconnect the cowl side junction block (main body ECU RH) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J75-18 (PWR) - Body ground Press continuously pattern select switch
      (SPORT)
      Below 1 Ω
      Release pattern select switch
      (SPORT)
      10 kΩ or higher
      J75-17 (SNOW) - Body ground Press continuously pattern select switch
      (SNOW)
      Below 1 Ω
      Release pattern select switch
      (SNOW)
      10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   4 

  4. PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  5. REPLACE PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
