Pattern Select Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the connector of the pattern select switch.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      4 - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Pattern select switch continuously pressed (2nd STRT) 3 - 4 Below 1 Ω
      Pattern select switch released (2nd STRT) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE PATTERN SELECT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PATTERN SELECT SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Connect the connector of the pattern select switch.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Pattern select switch continuously pressed (2nd STRT) E8-27 (SNWI) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
      Pattern select switch released (2nd STRT) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
