DTC P2121: Throttle / Pedal Position Sensor / Switch "D" Circuit Range / Performance: Procedure
- CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2121)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs.
Result
Display (DTC Output) Proceed to P2121 A P2121 and other DTCs B HINT:
If any DTCs other than P2121 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
B → GO TO DTC CHART
A: Go to next step
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ACCELERATOR POSITION)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
- Enter the following menu: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / ETCS / Accelerator Position No. 1 and Accelerator Position No. 2.
- Read the voltage for the accelerator pedal position sensor data.
Standard voltage
Accelerator pedal operations Accelerator Position No. 1 Accelerator Position No. 2 Released 0.5 to 1.1 V 1.5 to 2.9 V Depressed 2.5 to 4.6 V 3.5 to 5.5 V
OK → CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
NG: Go to next step
- REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY
NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2121)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the tester ON.
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- Allow the engine to idle for 15 seconds.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs.
Result

A → REPLACE ECM
