Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lexus SC 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

Pushing and holding the control switch for 2 minutes or more will prohibit the operation. However, this is not a malfunction.

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (ROOF CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the roof control switch.

      Sliding roof control ECU 

      ITEM DIAGNOSTIC NOTE

      Item Measurement Item / Display (Range) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      OPEN SW Sliding roof open switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Open switch is pushed
      OFF: Open switch is not pushed
      -
      CLOSE SW Sliding roof close switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Close switch is pushed
      OFF: Close switch is not pushed
      -

      OK: 

      On tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart. 

    OK: REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU 

    NG: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL (ROOF CONTROL SWITCH))

    1. Disconnect the S17 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the A10 control connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S17-1 (OPEN) - A10-3 Below 1 Ω
      S17-7 (CLS) - A10-4 Below 1 Ω
      S17-18 (SWE) - A10-5 Below 1 Ω
      S17-1 (OPEN) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S17-7 (LCS) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S17-18 (SWE) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (ROOF CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the A/C control but do not disconnect the connectors (see REMOVAL ).
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure the voltage of the A/C control.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A10-3 (OPEN) - A10-5 (SWE) OPEN switch ON 7 to 9 V
      A10-4 (CLS) - A10-5 (SWE) OPEN switch ON Below 3.0 V
      A10-3 (OPEN) - A10-5 (SWE) CLOSE switch ON Below 3.0 V
      A10-4 (CLS) - A10-5 (SWE) CLOSE switch ON 7 to 9 V

    NG: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY 

    OK: REPLACE SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU
