Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (SPEEDOMETER) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the speedometer operates.

      Combination meter 

      ACTIVE TEST - COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Speed Meter Operation Speedometer (mph(km/h)) 0 (0)/25 (40)/50 (80)/75 (120)/99 (160)/124 (200)/150 (240)/175 (280) km/h (mph) Confirm that vehicle is stopped and engine is idling. It is normal that doors will be locked automatically when performing speedometer Active Test. The displayed value has same units (km/h, mph) as main scale of vehicle's speedometer. Needle position should be within acceptable tolerance.

      OK: 

      The speedometer operates normally. 

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (SPEEDOMETER) 
    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the speedometer.

      Combination meter 

      DATA LIST - COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item / Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed / Min.: 0 km/h (0 mph), Max.: 255 km/h(158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed (when driving) -

      OK: 

      Vehicle speed on Techstream is almost equal to the actual vehicle speed. 

    NG: GO TO  BRAKE CONTROL 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the C8 meter connector.

    2. Measure the voltage of the connector.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C8-20 (SI) - Body
      • Ignition switch ON ground
      • Shift lever on N position
      • Turn rear wheel slowly
      10 to 14 V (pulse generation)

    OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    NG: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - METER) 
    1. Disconnect the S6 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the C8 meter connector.

    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S6-16 (SP1) - C8-20 (SI) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU
