Transmission Wire: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: w/ Navigation System:
    After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE OIL PAN PROTECTOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID 
    1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.
    2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

  5. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 12 bolts, oil pan and gasket from the transmission.
      NOTE: Some fluid will remain in the oil pan. Remove all the bolts, and carefully remove the oil pan assembly.

    2. Examine the particles in the pan.
      1. Remove the 4 magnets and use them to collect steel particles. Carefully inspect the foreign matter and particles in the pan and on the magnets to anticipate the type of wear you will find in the transmission.

    Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear and clutch plate wear

    Brass (non-magnetic): bush wear

  6. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and oil strainer.
      NOTE: Be careful as some fluid may leak out of the oil strainer.
    2. Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer.

  7. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 temperature sensor clamps.
    2. Disconnect the 2 ATF temperature sensors.
    3. Disconnect the 9 connectors from the solenoid valves.

  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the 2 wire connectors.

      HINT:

      Detach the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the 2 transmission wires.
