How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage: 

    11 to 14 V 

    If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

  3. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs and make a note of any codes that are output.
    2. Clear the DTCs.
    3. Based on the DTCs output above, try to cause the output of the same CAN communication system DTC or airbag system DTC by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTC. Then recheck for DTCs.

      Result 

      DTC RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      CAN communication system DTC is output B
      Airbag system DTC is output C
      Occupant classification system DTC is output D

    B: Go to CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    C: Go to AIRBAG SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    D: Go to OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: Go to next Step
