Exhaust Pipe: Installation

  1. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1)  (See INSTALLATION )
  2. INSTALL AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1)  (See INSTALLATION )
  3. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2)  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL NO. 2 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2)  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket and the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold RH with 3 new nuts.

      Torque: 54 N*m (554 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector and connect the wire harness clamp bracket to the transmission with the bolt.

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector and connect the wire harness clamp to the bracket.
  6. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install a new gasket and the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold LH with 3 new nuts.

      Torque: 54 N*m (554 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector and connect the wire harness clamp bracket to the transmission with the bolt.

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the air fuel ratio sensor connector and connect the wire harness clamp to the bracket.
  7. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the free length.
      1. Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

        Minimum free length: 

        43 mm (1.69 in.) 

        If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

    2. Install 2 new gaskets to the front exhaust pipe and front No. 2 exhaust pipe.
    3. Install the center exhaust pipe to the 3 exhaust pipe supports, and then install the 4 bolts and 2 compression springs.

      Torque: 

      for compression type (RH side) 

      43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 

      except compression type (LH side) 

      48 N*m (489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf) 

  8. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE DAMPER 
    1. Install the exhaust pipe damper to the tailpipe with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

  9. INSTALL TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the tailpipe to the 2 exhaust pipe supports.
    2. Install a new gasket to the center exhaust pipe.
    3. Connect the tailpipe to the center exhaust pipe.

    4. Attach a new clamp to the tailpipe and center exhaust pipe. Then install the bolt to the clamp.

      Torque: 32 N*m (326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT:

      Install the clamp within the angle range shown in the illustration.

  10. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 
  11. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
