Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL (DISPLAY CHECK MODE) 
    1. Enter the "Display Check" mode and select "Vehicle Signal Check" (See OPERATION CHECK  ).
    2. Check that the vehicle speed on the display changes according to the actual vehicle speed.

      OK: The display changes according to the actual vehicle speed. 

      HINT:

      This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to lag behind the actual change in the vehicle speed.

    NG: Go to step 2

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )

  2. CHECK COMBINATION METER (SPEEDOMETER OPERATION) 
    1. Drive the vehicle and check if the function of the speedometer in the combination meter is normal.

      OK: Actual vehicle speed and the speed indicated on the speedometer are the same. 

      HINT:

      The vehicle speed sensor is functioning normally when the indication on the speedometer is normal.

    NG: GO TO METER/GAUGE SYSTEM  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE )

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Disconnect the F23 display connector.
    2. Disconnect the E77 meter connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F23-14(SPD) - E77-6 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
      F23-14 (SPD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY  (See REMOVAL  )
