Seat Position Sensor: Installation

  1. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the battery negative (-) terminal.
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

    3. Using a feeler gauge 1.0 mm (0.039 in.), install the seat position sensor.
      NOTE:
      • If the seat position sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the seat position sensor with a new one.
      • When installing the seat position sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

      HINT:

      Be sure that the clearance between the seat position sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 to 1.4 mm (0.023 to 0.055 in.).

    4. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the "TORX" screw to install the seat position sensor.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

    5. Make sure that the clearance between the seat position sensor and the seat rail is within 0.6 to 1.4 mm (0.023 to 0.055 in.).
    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the seat position sensor.
    7. Connect the connector.
    8. Install the seat slide position sensor protector to the seat position sensor.
  2. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the front seat LH (see INSTALLATION ).
  3. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  4. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check the SRS warning light (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).
