Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Operating the engine switch, any switches or any doors triggers related ECU and sensor communication with the CAN, which causes resistance variation.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the A13, A14, E2 and E3 ECM connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E3-1 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-2 (E01) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-1 (E02) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      A13-5 (E03) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E3-4 (E04) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E2-5 (ME01) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      A14-1 (EC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Voltage 

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    A14-7 (BATT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    A13-1 (+B2) - Body ground When battery's positive (+) voltage Is applied to terminal A14-3 (MREL) 11 to 14 V
    A13-2 (+B) - Body ground When battery's positive (+) voltage is applied to terminal A14-3 (MREL) 11 to 14 V
    A14-5 (FC) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE ECM  (See REMOVAL )
