Inner Rear View Mirror: Inspection

  1. INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check operation of the electrochromic inner mirror.
      1. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 5.
      2. Attach black colored tape to the forward sensor to prevent it from sensing.
      3. Shine an electric light on the mirror. Check that the mirror surface changes from bright to dark.

        HINT:

        When the environment is very bright, the antiglare operation may occur immediately after the tape is applied.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

  2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2. Apply dry cell battery voltage (1.2 V) to the mirror and check operation of the mirror face.

      OK 

      VOLTAGE REFERENCE CHART

      Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) - 7 (EC+)
      Battery negative (-) -15 (EC-)      		 Mirror face darkens

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

  3. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2. Apply dry cell battery voltage (1.2 V) to the mirror and check operation of the mirror face.

      OK 

      VOLTAGE REFERENCE CHART

      Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) - 7 (EC+)
      Battery negative (-) -15 (EC-)      		 Mirror face darkens

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.
