  1. INSPECT LIGHT FAILURE SENSOR
    1. Disconnect the R9 light failure sensor connector.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R9-3 (+T) - R9-11 (E) Light control switch in TAIL 10 to 14 V
Light control switch OFF Below 1 V
      R9-7 (+STP) - R9-11 (E) Brake pedal depressed 10 to 14 V
Brake pedal released Below 1 V
      R9-8 (B) - R9-11 (E) Always 10 to 14 V

      Standard resistance

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R9-11 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, there is a malfunction on the wire harness side.

    3. Reconnect the light failure indicator sensor connector.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R9-2 (-STP) - Body ground) Brake pedal depressed 10 to 14 V
Brake pedal released Below 1 V
R9-5 (-TL) - Body ground) Light control switch in TAIL 10 to 14 V
Light control switch OFF Below 1 V
R9-9 (-TR) - Body ground) Light control switch in TAIL 10 to 14 V
Light control switch OFF Below 1 V

If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the wire harness between the sensor and bulb, or replace the light failure indicator sensor.
