Introduction

2007 model year SC 430 vehicles without navigation system are equipped with a compass in the instrument cluster. Use the following procedure to complete initial calibration of the compass during the ROAD TEST section of Pre-Delivery Service (PDS).

Initial Calibration Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and check that the direction (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) appears on the compass display.

  2. Push and hold the "ODO/TRIP" and "RESET" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds or longer until the zone number (1-15) appears on the compass display. Then push the "RESET" button to select the number of zone where the vehicle is located.

  3. Start the engine and push the "ODO/TRIP" button until the "-- --" blinks on the compass display.

  4. Drive the vehicle slowly at 5 mph (8 km/h), or less, in a circle until the direction is displayed. If there is NOT enough space to drive in a circle, drive around the block until the direction is displayed. After driving 1 to 3 circles in the above method, calibration is complete with the direction shown on the display.

    After performing the above steps, calibration is complete.

    NOTE:
    • Do NOT perform calibration of the compass in a place where the Earth's magnetic field is subject to interference by artificial magnetic fields (underground parking, under a steel tower, between buildings, roof parking, near a railroad crossing, near a large vehicle, etc.).
    • During calibration, do NOT operate electric systems (retractable hardtop, power windows, etc.) as they may interfere with the calibration.
    • To cancel the calibration before it is complete, push the "ODO/TRIP" button.
