Exhaust Pipe: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust Pipe.
  • The exhaust pipe is extremely hot immediately after the engine has stopped.
  • Confirm that the exhaust pipe has cooled down before removing it.
  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1) 
    1. Remove the 5 bolts and engine under cover.
    2. Remove the sensor.
  3. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2) 
    1. Remove the sensor.
  4. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts, 4 rings, tailpipe and 2 gaskets.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 baffles from the tailpipe.
  5. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and floor brace.
  6. REMOVE EXHAUST CENTER PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts, 2 rings, exhaust pipe and gasket.
  7. REMOVE EXHAUST FRONT PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts, exhaust pipe and 2 gaskets.
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.
  9. REMOVE CATALYST CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 6 nuts, 2 converters and 2 gaskets.
