Seat Heater System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      9 (SWL) - 10 (RVL) Switch (LH) OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      9 (SWL) - 10 (RVL) Switch (LH) ON (Min.) 2.72 to 4.08 kΩ
      9 (SWL) - 10 (RVL) Switch (LH) ON (Max.) 0.28 to 0.42 kΩ
      1 (RVR) - 2 (SWR) Switch (RH) OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (RVR) - 2 (SWR) Switch (RH) ON (Min.) 2.72 to 4.08 kΩ
      1 (RVR) - 2 (SWR) Switch (RH) ON (Max.) 0.28 to 0.42 kΩ

      HINT:

      As the dial is being turned, the resistance changes gradually.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

    2. Check that the seat heater switch indicator light illuminates.

      OK 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3 (IG) - Negative (-) battery
      6 (E) - Positive (+) battery      		 Heater switch ON Illuminates

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1-4 Seat heater temp. 20°C (68°F) Below 1 Ω
    2. Heat the thermostat with a light.
    3. Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2-3 Seat heater temp. 25°C (77°F) 4.9 to 5.1 kΩ
      2-3 Seat heater temp. 37°C (99°F) 2.9 to 3.1 kΩ
  3. INSPECT FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance of the seat cushion heater.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1-2 Seat heater temp. 20°C (68°F) Below 1.25 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the seat cushion heater assembly.
