Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (HEIGHT SENSOR) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the height sensor.

      AFS ECU 

      DATA LIST - AFS ECU

      Item Measurement Item / Display (Range) Normal condition Diagnostic Note
      FR HEIGHT SENS Front height sensor signal value / 0 to 5 V Approx. 2.5 V -
      RR HEIGHT SENS Rear height sensor signal value / 0 to 5 V Approx. 2.5 V -

      OK: Condition value will be displayed. 

    OK: REPLACE AFS ECU 

    NG: Go to Next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - SENSOR)

    1. Disconnect the A30*1 or A31*2 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the H11*1 or H17*2 sensor connector.

      HINT:

      *1: Front

      *2: Rear

    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance: 

      Front 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A30-1 (SBF) - H11-1(SHB) Below 1 Ω
      A30-2 (SHFL) - H11-2 (SHFL) Below 1 Ω
      A30-17 (SFG) - H11-4 (SHG) Below 1 Ω
      A30-1 (SBF) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      A30-2 (SHFL) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      A30-17 (SFG) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

      Rear 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A31-10 (SBR) - H17-1 (SHB) Below 1 Ω
      A31-9 (SHRL) - H17-2 (SHFL) Below 1 Ω
      A31-20 (SGR) - H17-3 (SHG) Below 1 Ω
      A31-10 (SBR) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      A31-9 (SHRL) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      A31-20 (SGR) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
    2. Connect the dry cell battery positive (+) terminal to terminal 1 (SHB) and the negative one to terminal 4 (SHG) to apply the voltage of 4.5 V between terminals 1 (SHB) and 4 (SHG).
    3. While slowly moving the link up and down with the voltage being applied, measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHFL) and 4 (SHG).

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Link Angle Specified Condition
      +45° (High) 4.5 V
      0° (Normal) 2.5 V
      -45° (Low) 0.5 V

    NG: REPLACE FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  4. INSPECT REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
    2. Connect the dry cell battery positive (+) terminal to terminal 3 (SHB) and the negative one to terminal 1 (SHG) to apply the voltage of 4.5 V between terminals 3 (SHB) and 1 (SHG).
    3. While slowly moving the link up and down with the voltage being applied, measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SHRL) and 1 (SHG).

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Link Angle Specified Condition
      +45° (High) 4.5 V
      0° (Normal) 2.5 V
      -45° (Low) 0.5 V

    NG: REPLACE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    OK: REPLACE AFS ECU
