Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the item below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check the relay operation.

      Main body ECU 

      ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE (MAIN BODY ECU)

      Item Test Details/Display (Range) Diagnostic Note
      HAZARD HAZARD ON/OFF -

      OK: All hazard warning signal lights flash. 

    OK: Go to step   5 

    NG: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  2. INSPECT FUSE (HAZ) 
    1. Remove the HAZ fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance of the fuse.

      Standard resistance: 

      Below 1 Ω 

    NG: REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (TURN SIGNAL FLASHER RELAY - BATTERY) 
    1. Remove the turn signal flasher relay from the instrument panel junction block.
    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Junction Block turn signal flasher Relay terminal 4 (+B) - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  4. CHECK OPERATION OF TURN SIGNAL FLASHER RELAY (Marking: FLSH) 
    1. Replace the turn signal flasher relay with a normally functioning one or a new one.
    2. Check that the appropriate turn signal light flashes.
    3. Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the ignition switch ON and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
    5. Select the item below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check the relay operation.

      Main body ECU 

      MAIN BODY ECU ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE

      Item Test Details / Display (Range) Diagnostic Note
      HAZARD HAZARD ON / OFF -

      OK: All hazard warning signal lights flash. 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (JUNCTION BLOCK - HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH) 

    OK: REPLACE TURN SIGNAL FLASHER RELAY 

  5. INSPECT HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH 
    1. Remove the hazard warning signal switch.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 4 OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 4 ON Below 23.4 Ω

    NG: REPLACE HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
